Austrian soldiers, unaccustomed to the high alcohol content of Venetian wines, would ask for water to be “sprayed” (spritzen in German) into their wine to dilute it. From this simple custom, a true ritual was born. Over time, water was replaced by seltzer or Prosecco, and a bitter liqueur was added – Aperol, with its citrusy and slightly bitter notes, or Select, for a more robust and typically Venetian flavor – giving rise to the drink we know and love today.

Preparing a perfect Spritz Veneziano is a simple yet precise art. It begins with ice in a large wine glass, then three parts Prosecco, two parts Aperol (or Select, depending on taste), and a "splash" of soda water or sparkling water are added. The final touch?
